Rotterdam's port is experiencing strong growth in the first months of 2017

The transhipment in the port of Rotterdam increased by 10 percent during the first four months of this year. The growth is mainly in container sales. That was announced by the Port Authority on Friday when the MOL Triumph entered. This brand new ship can transport more than 20,000 containers and is the largest container ship ever in Europe.

The increase in container turnover is a significant part of the contest of the Second Maasvlakte which, according to the Port Authority, has come to a halt. Rotterdam is the only port in Europe where such container giants can moor. Also, large shipping companies have included almost all of Rotterdam in their new shipping plans.
