AVN – Multi-Year Plan Corporate Social Responsibility (EN)
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is increasingly becoming part of the standard checklist of business partners. In addition to CSR being an integral part of our day-to-day operations, it is important to document it in order to clearly communicate AVN’s vision and its practical implementation. As a family-owned business, we are doubly aware that the choices we make today will have an impact on the future.

BUSINESS With a Smile
It is AVN’s vision and ambition to do business with a smile. This applies to our relationships with trading partners such as customers and suppliers, as well as with employees and other stakeholders. When business goes well, it makes us happy—but being happy, or making others happy, also enables us to do business well. Profitability and efficiency are therefore not the only benchmarks.

PEOPLE
We aim to create a working environment that is safe and people-friendly. Our team is diverse, consisting of men and women, part-time and full-time employees, and a wide range of functions including sales, warehouse, logistics and administration. We attach great importance to team spirit and provide relaxed and enjoyable moments together. We offer stable employment and invest in craftsmanship through internal training and coaching of our employees.

As a recognised training company, AVN provides opportunities for apprenticeships and traineeships, working in cooperation with schools from the local region.

AVN values long-term relationships. Mutual trust and personal contact form an important foundation for this. For that reason, regular visits are made to suppliers and factories. In addition to personal interaction and product inspection, these visits provide insight into working conditions and allow them to be assessed. Our intention is to agree with all suppliers on objectives regarding production conditions and transport in line with International Corporate Social Responsibility. Our purchasing conditions form the basis for this, and an evaluation form is exchanged with suppliers to enable well-founded decision-making and effective steering.

PLANET
In every possible way, we aim to reduce our environmental impact step by step. Our premises are equipped with LED lighting, a photovoltaic (PV) installation and climate systems with heat pumps. Waste is carefully separated, and paper and cardboard are reused as much as possible. Transport is organised as efficiently as possible.

A major step forward is the development of our company building in Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, located on the circular business park Ambachtsezoom. This is a sustainable, energy-neutral building that offers a particularly pleasant working environment and allows new efficiency-enhancing facilities to be introduced. Our long-term objective is to manage both the building and transport operations in a CO₂-neutral manner. In preparation for this, provisions have already been made for a possible expansion of the PV installation. In addition, we are affiliated with the Ambachtsezoom Energy Cooperative.

As a supplier to international shipping, we are aware of the EU Ship Recycling Regulations (SRR). These regulations require every ship to have an Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) on board and to keep it up to date. Where required, AVN is able to provide the necessary documentation.

PROFIT
AVN has been in existence since the 1980s. Our customer base can be divided into three main groups: Shipping, Industry and Retail. AVN’s strength lies in the interaction between these customer groups and the broad spread across various sectors. This provides strong resilience as well as international reach. Exclusive partnerships with internationally recognised brands contribute to our growing reputation.

Particularly over the past ten years, AVN has experienced strong growth through specialisation in supplying the international shipping industry. As a member of the NVVS (Dutch Association of Ship Suppliers), AVN aspires to play a role in achieving the association’s objectives, including bringing the ship supply industry to the highest possible standard. Thanks to our excellent price–quality ratio, high service level and wide availability of specialist products, we not only supply ships in Dutch ports but also serve vessels in foreign ports.

Where possible, we support local associations, initiatives or projects, either financially or in practical terms through the deployment of people or equipment. Several employees are actively involved as volunteers or board members in associations or committees, and the new company building is occasionally used for meetings, business gatherings, sponsorship activities or events.
